PHOENIX Sports continued the trend of upsets in City and Suburban A-grade cricket when they became the second team in as many weeks to beat Beach Hotel.

Seven Seas Pirates ended Beach Hotel's unbeaten run the previous week.

Phoenix posted 9-173 from their 40 overs after batting first at Connolly Park on Saturday.

Beach Hotel were all out for 114 in reply and now have a narrow one-point lead over Lambton Bowling Club.

Seven Seas could not continue their giant-killing run and lost to LBC at No.2 Sportsground.

Colin Hinshelwood's 71 was the highlight of Seven Seas' 177, but he was outshone by John Collinson, who scored an unbeaten 94 as LBC scored 7-178.

Cardiff Panthers joined Seven Seas and Phoenix in third place after Darren Cousins scored 70 of their 7-189 against Elliotts Lambton (158) at Islington Oval.

Rory Conley steered Dora Creek (2-129) to victory over Warners Bay (127) with 69 not out at Seaman Avenue Oval.
