A-GRADE pacesetters Beach Hotel and Lambton Bowling Club will fight for the lead in Newcastle City and Suburban's top competition at Connolly Park today.

There are six rounds remaining and only four points separates the top-five teams.

Beach Hotel were undefeated at the Christmas break, but they have had two wash-outs and two losses in 2008 and now lead Lambton by only one point.

Defending champions Cardiff Panthers are poised to pounce on any mistakes from the leaders when they play Dora Creek Workers today at No.2 Sportsground.

In other matches, Seven Seas Pirates play Warners Bay at Islington Oval and Phoenix Sports play Elliotts Lambton at Hexham Park.
