Fire At Former Hotel

FIREFIGHTERS were called to a fire at the former Empire Hotel in Hunter Street, Newcastle, about 5pm yesterday.

A NSW Fire Brigades spokesman said the fire was contained to the second level.

Police were called to three fires at the Merriwa Showground Pavilion last night.
