THE annual Australian Heritage Hotel beer festival is on again, running from noon to 8pm this Saturday and Sunday. The participating breweries take over the area of Cumberland and Gloucester streets surrounding the corner pub.

Breweries taking part this year include Barons, Bluetongue, Byron Bay, Coopers, Fish Rock, Grand Ridge, Little Creatures, Malt Shovel, Matilda Bay, Mudgee, Northern Rivers, Outback and Scharers, with a handful of newcomers such as The Rocks Brewery, Little Brewery, Vale Ale and William Bull.

Tasting glasses cost $5 and tasting tickets - $10 for 10 tickets - are available on the day, or you can pre-purchase at www.australianheritagehotel.com.

This event has grown in popularity over the years, so expect a bumper crowd if the weather stays fine. Punters are advised to arrive early to buy glasses and tickets or pre-purchase online because the queues on the day can get rather long. Getting to taste lots of different local brews is obviously a big drawcard, along with having a chat with the people who make them.
